The deer usually leave my dahlias alone,
but not this year.
Thomas A. Edison has disappeared.

He was between Snow Country and Firepot.

He was there, but now he’s not!
Damn deer!

Assuming the plant failed to grow at all, it might have been voles… they eat the tubers underground during the winter.

We shall see. One plant had the top ripped off. Maybe it will still bloom. The word vole puts fear in my heart!

That’s so sad because that’s just the most stunning Dahlia in my opinion! I didn’t know about voles eating the tubers! Maybe it’s time to put deer fencing around the Dahlias! Or plant roses between them!

Dorothy Jayne I have big plans to change my garden to deer unfriendly.
I have fought them so long. I have help lined up to remove everything edible. The plants will be moved to safety or given away. I am done with the deer.
