I was given a piece of this Epiphyllum three years ago.
It was my first cactus orchid. I have been unsure of how to care for it.
It has grown well but never bloomed..
until today.
Hooray!
I hope I don’t have to wait three more years for another bloom,
but this lovely flower was worth the wait.

It’s gorgeous. I had a blobby old cactus (Cereus peruvianus) that went for eight years or so before blooming, but when it did its thing, it was spectacular. It gave me two blooms the next year, and then starting sulking again. It got so bit I had to (ahem) disassemble it, but now I have a half-dozen pieces that have taken root and are growing well.

This one got a “hair cut” this spring. That may have encouraged it to perform.

I have waited years for cactus and succulents to bloom. It makes it so special when it does finally bloom.
