I am happy to report the first spotting of a butterfly in the garden.
It is a Great Spangled Fritillary/ Speyeria cybele.

It was happily sipping from the Butterfly Weed flowers.

This type does not startle as easily as some, so I took numerous photos
until my camera battery died. Hi Ho.
I am glad I braved the heat to check on my garden this first day of June.

FLOW
A beauty, and well camouflaged on those flowers. 😃

You got some great photos! I saw one on Jun 2–my first sighting of one, but managed to scare it off before I could get many pictures. It was very large. Happy butterflying.

Got my 2nd type this weekend. Trying to capture pics of Goldfinches on poppies. Boy are they skittish! Love their little happy sounds as they eat.

Yes, the Goldfinches are adorable. They like my verbena bonariensis.
