Cheraw in the Spring

I enjoyed a long walk today

IMG_8701

In my son’s new town.

IMG_8615

He moved here this past fall,

IMG_8673

so this is my first glimpse of spring in Cheraw, South Carolina.

IMG_8703

The azaleas are in full flower now.

IMG_8694

The wisteria are wafting their scents into the breezes.

IMG_8670

The birds are nesting and singing.

IMG_8678

I awoke to a song I did not know this morning.

IMG_8626

I’m feeling like a Southern Belle.

IMG_8611

I can’t think of anything more southern than moss

IMG_8672

and magnolias,

IMG_8633

Unless it’s an ornate gate.

IMG_8646

Snowballs in spring are just magical.

The boy may have trouble getting rid of mama.

My Lizard Kingdom

On any warm day, I can sneak to certain spots and spy  lizards taking a sunbath.

IMG_8451

Some of them notice me and roll their eyes my way.

IMG_8528

The Skinks are skittish and run into the nearest crack, their faces blushed with embarrassment.

IMG_8499

The Bluetails turn and flash their blue tails as they retreat.

IMG_8441

I have seen them leave this squiggling blue appendage behind when caught.

The big Fence bubbas do push ups at me to show how strong they are.

IMG_8435

This baby is still peeling.  He has a piece of skin blowing up and down on his head.

IMG_8479

Mr. Fence is true to his name here.  Notice those blue scales on the chest.

IMG_8452

I love my tiny lizard kingdom.

Ranunculus Reigns in April

Bright colors, Tight petals, No thorns

IMG_8398

Ranunculus reigns like an early rose

IMG_8399

It actually comes from tubers, not bulbs

IMG_8401

Likes cool weather

IMG_8378

May have up to 30+ blooms per plant

IMG_8380

Great source of cut flowers.

IMG_8403

What’s not to love?
