Oh, it’s wintry cold here. Snow yesterday. And Sun and a cold wind today. In the western parts of Sweden we light bonfires on Easter Eve. The tradition is not primarily for keeping warm but a reminiscence of the terrible times when witches were burnt on the stake. And also of the even older tradition to hail the return of the sun and help it on the way up. Heathen traditions, for better or worse, have survived to this day alongside the Christian holidays.
