A tiny fawn was discovered in one of my ditches at around 2:00 PM in the hot sun.
I had been in the general area for hours weeding and re-potting plants.
The bunnies had been only feet away since morning.
Mr. Flower discovered it while mowing. (It finally stopped raining.)
What an uncomfortable position! It seemed not to be able to walk.
As we and the neighbors quietly gathered around to discuss what to do,
it struggled to its feet/hooves.
I thought it would just stop under the Cardoon to hide.
No. It stumbled through my garden.
Then got stuck in a fence which was quickly moved.
Then it wobbled up the hill and into the woods.
Where is mama?

The fawn is so tiny! What a mystery. I hope it finds its mama somewhere in the woods. Somewhere.

It is so tiny, but also very determined. Seems far to small to be away from mother for long.

I agree with that, but she knew where to go.

I walked the entire upper loop of the woods. There was no sign of the fawn. It was either well enough to go back to its hide-out or mama got it. Whew!

The Doe will hide a young fawn while she is away feeding. That’s what most likely happened. We came across this on a deep swamp yesterday. Nothing posted yet, but same concept. Except the swamp does have many predators.

I appreciate your knowledgeable input. I had a pic of a deer on the critter cam in the yard last night. This was a terrible place to hide. It probably looked better during the night. We have much wildlife. Nothing runs from me anymore. My scent is all over the woods and yard. Now about your vacation????

LOL, well I did go a day without any gear, packs, etc. and 2 days with a small bag while out with relatives. But I did try 😀, thanks for asking.

Awww. I do hope it is OK. Finding such things here always stays on my mind. I feel responsible for them somehow if they find their way into the garden.
